One of the most frustrating things for me as an artist and a designer is when I see other peoples work, and go..... "why didn't I think of that?"

It's fruitless thought of course, and so I persevere.

Hair Did Nails Done

I know this is not exactly a summer time outfit but I think the hair is one of the most amazing things I've ever seen, I've been viciously trying to tame my mane into doing a backwards cornrow, I wasn't to spiffy at the regular kind before this so it's been some what of a challenge. Anyhoodle if I ever manage this wonder I shall surely post.

So since I'm a youngin I recently went to my senior prom WOOHOO COMING OF AGE! Yeah but not really, anyways since my dress was a simple, slinky, black thing (Helmut Lang GLORIOUS!) I decided I wanted something interesting for the nails. Though this isn't exactly original, (Dior did there whole half moon vamp nails a couple years back). I decided to pick the Ruffian style cause I liked the color just with out the black french and the letter.

Absolutely obsessed with Pringle of Scotland's fantastic new collection all those lovely baggy pants I will never be able to wear, (a short girl can dream). 

Not to mention that fantastic denim looking gillet, (Is it denim? It looks like it could be wool?). I adore anything even remotely sportswear looking, always a fan of those clean lines and super cool silhouettes .

A little creation of mine the outer shell is silk lace and the polo and shorts are heather grey cotton knit.... grey is quite possibly my favorite color although I'm not entirely sure if its a color or the void of any. I don't suppose any one ever asks what's your favorite void of color?

These Things will Kill You

Hi there....... I have not posted in ..... awhile. It seems life is far too boring? Or is it hectic to sit down and write about .... things? Any way as luck would have it.... fashion week is going on ... and on. 

When I first discovered high fashion, in middle school, I absolutely devoured it. I knew what every dress, every scarf, and shoe. I could tell you who made it, and what season it came from....    Then I discovered that high-school requires a lot of work (sadly) and as a hopeful designer it becomes rather difficult to build our own voice, when you are constantly bombarded with other peoples master pieces. You quickly devolve into this disgusting, mass of slightly altered designs, that in theory seemed like your own but in completion look suspiciously like a knock off.

 I will not be so arrogant as to completely ignore what is going on in the world around me and I dare say it would be hard not to look, but for now I will study math instead of Vogue and Harper's Bazaar.

Where the Wild Things Are (and Other Wild Things)

So this past weekend I went with my boyfriend and a couple friends to go see Where the Wild Things Are. However regardless of the mixed reviews I loved it and was blown away by the sheer beauty of the thing. So I decided to do some research on the creators of the larger than life, fantastical monster costumes, turns out it was all made by Jim Henson company (think muppets) which when you sat back made a lot of sense. But what I was more intrigued with was the link i found (see third picture down) of the designer for Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeah's (also the person who did all the music for the movie) who on her own created a more modern take on the monster costumes, if say they were to all go to a rave :]  if you want to see more pictures go too http://blog.urbanoutfitters.com/features/wtwta_christian_joy

I have a slight obsession with david bowie so I did this makeup on my lovely friend katie dearest and did her hair all up :] enjoy

Oh! I've been Forgetting Titles

 The sweater is from gap, I made the boyfriend jeans and also bleached and distressed the denim, the shoes are Steve Madden i assume knock offs of the Balenciaga shoes made famous by beyonce' 
The day after christmas also the day after i received my Nikon D40. The vest I created out of a chestnut suede I bought from Mood in NYC which was probably outrageously priced but the guy i normally go to didn't have the color i wanted :/(the back) and mongolian sheep fur trim i bought from M&J trimming in NYC.

Good Vintage Is Hard To Find

I'm sorry for the terrible quality of the pictures all of these were taken before the days of my nikon d 40 ^-^ these were all from my jr high days I hope you enjoy. The top is a blue knit with gold chain and the dress which i don't know if you can tell has roses embroidered all over them.  

the tunic i made out of this lovely dyed wool :] very itchy though haha i wore it to the poconos... i think thats how you spell it lol very warm :] and the purple get up is on my lovely model and best friend i made that a couple years back maybe three? 

So this is when i first started out sewing so you will have to forgive the verrrryyy old picture and the semi-weird pose, I made this dress for a middle school dance..... seems like eonsss ago haha any ways i believe its silk taffeta i i remember correctly with silk satin ribbon :]

So i've been extremely busy and thought well OF COURSE I'LL HAVE TIME TO TAKE PICTURES OF MY OUTFITS EVERYDAY......... yeah that's not happening - _ -' soooo i thought welll i'll post older pictures of my outfits/creations and see what people think haha so enjoy :]
